General Travel Restrictions by Foreign Countries on all Travelers

Country

Restriction

1.     Afghanistan

As of 15 May 2020, the Government of Afghanistan has re-opened its border with Iran, which had been closed briefly to all air and ground travel.

All foreign airlines (Emirates, Fly Dubai, Turkish Airlines, Air India) and Kam Air have announced the suspension of services from Kabul. There are currently no commercial options for international travelers leaving Kabul.

2.     Albania

As of 15 May 2020, all persons who have entered Albania from the risk-epidemiological areas identified by the World Health Organization are required to complete the traveler’s file at the border crossing points and shall be subject to compulsory 15-day self-quarantine from the date of entry into the border.

3.     Algeria

All land borders closed. Suspended all air and sea travel with Europe and Africa. Non-cargo international air and maritime travel suspended. Domestic flights suspended as of 22 March 2020.

4.     Angola

Borders closed.

5.     Antigua and Barbuda

Entry ban on foreign nationals who have travelled to China, Italy, Iran, Japan, South Korea and Singapore in the previous 28 days

6.     Argentina

Any foreigner who is not a resident in Argentina will not be permitted to enter Argentina until 01 April 2020.

7.     Armenia

As of 17 May 2020, Nationwide State of Emergency in effect until 13 June. Land borders remain closed. All foreign travelers are banned from entry. Returning citizens are required to undergo quarantine.

8.     Aruba

Complete border closure.
Effective 17 March, midnight through 31 March, Aruba will restrict entry to all travelers except for legal residents of Aruba.

9.     Australia

Border Closure.

Australian citizens and permanent residents are not permitted to travel overseas.

Dual nationals, or foreign nationals with permanent residency status in Australia, need to secure an exemption from the ABF Commissioner before they can leave Australia, even if using the passport of their other nationality. Individuals can apply online for an exemption on the Department of Home Affairs website: https://homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/departmental-forms/online-forms/covid19-enquiry-form

10.  Austria

The EU entry ban for all non-necessary travels of persons from third countries to Europe (all EU Member States, Schengen States and UK) is in place until 15 May 2020.

Third countries:

Brazil: All airports in the following regions: Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo; Canada: All airports in the following regions: Ontario and Quebec; Iran: All airports; Russia: All airports in Moscow region; South Korea: All airports in the following regions: Seoul and Daegu; Turkey: All airports; USA: All airports in the following States: California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington.

The travel restrictions do not apply to the following persons:
1. Citizens of EU Member States and of Schengen associated countries, including their family members, as well as citizens of the United Kingdom, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland, including their family members who are entering for the purpose of transit to their home country or country of residence;
2. Third-country nationals who hold a long-term residence permit for an EU Member State or one of the countries mentioned above (a residence permit or long-term visa, e.g. for pursuing studies or taking up employment), provided that they are returning to their place of habitual residence;
3. Third-country nationals in the so-called “essential functions or needs” category;
these officially include: 1) health care workers, health researchers, and care professionals; and 2) cross-border workers, transport personnel employed for the movement of goods and in other essential sectors; 3) diplomats, staff of international organizations, military personnel and humanitarian aid workers insofar as they are performing official duties; 4) passengers in transit; 5) passengers travelling for imperative family reasons; and 6) persons in need of international protection or seeking entry for other humanitarian reasons.

11.  Bahrain

As of 15 May 2020, arriving passengers who have visited China, Egypt, Hong Kong, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand 14 days prior to their arrival in the Kingdom shall be subjected to mandatory testing.

12.  Belarus

Due to border closures, flights are limited so stay of visa-free travelers is extended from 30 days to 90 days. Those arriving from China, Iran, South Korea or Italy or other countries where the virus is active are encouraged to undergo testing at the airport.

13.  Bangladesh

Passengers arriving from or transiting through European countries (except the UK) are not permitted to enter Bangladesh from March 16 to 31.

VOA has been suspended for all nationals. Passengers arriving from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and India are required to undergo a compulsory 14-day self-quarantine immediately upon arrival.

Passengers arriving from People’s Republic of China (including Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Taiwan), Iran, Italy or Republic of Korea (South Korea) with a pre-arranged visa must have a medical certificate that confirms they tested negative for COVID-19.

Diplomatic passport holders with a valid sticker / label visa may be exempted, “OK to Board” must be obtained from the local authority during check-in.

Customers with a confirmed Bangladesh Board of Investment (BOI) must travel with a valid sticker / label visa.

14.  Belgium

The EU entry ban for all non-necessary travels of persons from third countries to Europe (all EU Member States, Schengen States and UK) is in place until 15 May 2020.

Citizens of EU Member States and of Schengen associated countries, including their family members, as well as citizens of the United Kingdom, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland, including their family members who are entering for the purpose of transit to their home country or country of residence;
2. Third-country nationals who hold a long-term residence permit for an EU Member State or one of the countries mentioned above (a residence permit or long-term visa, e.g. for pursuing studies or taking up employment), provided that they are returning to their place of habitual residence;
3. Third-country nationals in the so-called “essential functions or needs” category;
these officially include: 1) health care workers, health researchers, and care professionals; and 2) cross-border workers, transport personnel employed for the movement of goods and in other essential sectors; 3) diplomats, staff of international organizations, military personnel and humanitarian aid workers insofar as they are performing official duties; 4) passengers in transit; 5) passengers travelling for imperative family reasons; and 6) persons in need of international protection or seeking entry for other humanitarian reasons.

15.  Belize

All borders closed. Most ports of entry closed except the Santa Elena Border and Philip Goldson International Airport. Entry of foreigners not allowed. Belizeans are not allowed to leave the country. Travel restriction will be reevaluated after 30 days.

16.  Benin

All air travelers to Benin will be placed in a government-designated quarantine facility for a period of 14 days in self-isolation. For non-Beninese travelers, the costs of stay will be incurred by the traveler.

Travelers must provide information on their travel history and health status by filling out a Travel and Health Questionnaire and undergo enhanced screening measures including a thorough review of their questionnaire and the verification of body temperature with infrared cameras.

17.  Bhutan

As of 19 May 2020, operation of all scheduled international commercial passenger flights from several countries is further suspended until 30 May 2020 (2359 hrs BST)

18.  Botswana

Self-quarantine for 14 days for travellers who have been to affected countries.

19.  Bolivia

Entry is restricted to only Bolivian Citizens and will be subject to health protocols. All international flights suspended from 21 March

20.  Bonaire

All flights from the United States and Europe banned until further notice.

21.  Bosnia and Herzegovina

Passengers (except residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina) who have been in China (People’s Rep.) (Hubei – Wuhan Province), Iran, Italy or Korea (Rep.) are not allowed to enter Bosnia and Herzegovina.

22.  Brazil

Restriction of entry of foreign visitors at land borders with Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Suriname and French Guiana on 19 March, following a similar restriction at the Venezuelan border. Restriction does not apply to foreigners with permanent residence, diplomats and international agency officials, as well as trucks transporting goods.

23.  Brunei

The temporary travel restriction prohibiting the entry of foreign nationals to Brunei Darussalam, which is still being implemented since 24 March 2020, is still in effect.

24.  Bulgaria

The EU entry ban for all non-necessary travels of persons from third countries to Europe (all EU Member States, Schengen States and UK) is in place until 15 May 2020.

25.  Burkina Faso

Closure of land, air and rail borders.

26.  Cambodia

As of 22 May 2020, the travel ban on foreigners from Iran, Italy, Germany, Spain, France, and the US has been lifted.

The following entry requirements shall continue to apply to foreigners (except diplomats): (a) a medical certificate issued within 72 hours of arriving in Cambodia stating that the foreigner has tested negative for COVID-19; and (b) an insurance policy showing minimum medical coverage of not less than USD 50,000 for the duration of stay in Cambodia.

All passengers arriving in Cambodia will be accompanied to a reception center for COVID-19 testing and stay at said center while waiting for the test results. If a person tests positive, the other passengers will be subjected to a 14-day quarantine at a location designated by the Cambodian government. If all passengers test negative, they will be allowed to a 14-day self isolation at their respective houses under the supervision of local authorities and health officials. Moreover, they will be required to take a COVID- 19 testing on the 13th day of the self-isolation.

27.  Cameroon

Closed all land, air and sea borders indefinitely starting March 18. International flights were suspended, with the exception of cargo planes.

28.  Canada

Restriction of entry except for Canadian citizens or permanent residents, their immediate family, aeroplane crew members, diplomats, and US citizens. As of 19 March, all non-essential travel through the US-Canada border is restricted.

29.  Cape Verde

All sea borders closed and restricted flights from 18 March 2020

30.  Cayman Islands (UK)

All persons entering after 16 March 2020 and all household contacts strictly practice self-isolation at home or in a government provided facility for 14 full days. Owen Roberts International Airport and the Charles Kirkconnell International Airport closed for international passenger flights for three weeks, starting 22 March 2020. Docking of cruise ships in ports prohibited.

31.  Chad

All international flights suspended.

32.  Chile

Closed its borders indefinitely to non-resident foreigners starting March 18. Any citizen returning from high-risk countries must quarantine for 14 days. Also prohibited the docking of cruise ships in Chilean ports as of March 15.

33.  China (Mainland)

Effective 28 March 2020, China has decided to temporarily suspend the entry into China by foreign nationals holding visas or residence permits and by foreign nationals with APEC Business Travel Cards.Entry with diplomatic service, courtesy or C visas will not be affected.

Starting 27 April 2020, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport required all passengers to present their health code or Suikan code after undergoing temperature check. Passengers with red codes will be denied entry (For more details: https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/eCWREfPfClO5gUOu2uDJUQ)

34.  Colombia

Restricted entry of all foreign nationals who travelled to Europe or Asia in the past 14 days, with the exception of foreign residents and diplomats. All land, air and sea borders will remain shut until May 30.

35.  Comoros

All international commercial flights, with the exception of cargo flights, are suspended starting 23 March 2020 until further notice.

All movement of people between East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar, Mozambique, etc.) and the Union of the Comoros is strictly prohibited.

36.  Congo

All travelers from China, Italy, South Korea, Iran and France will be quarantined for 14 days. The quarantine sites are in Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire.

37.  Cook Islands

Entry ban on all travelers except New Zealand passport and/or permanent resident holders, Australian citizens and permanent residents who normally live in New Zealand, Cook Islanders, permanent residents of the Cook Islands, Cook Islands work permit holder, Cook Island Residents permit holders and their immediate family members.

38.  Costa Rica

Borders closed until April 12 except for citizens, residents, and foreign diplomats. Entry will also be permitted for any immediate family (partner or spouse, legal guardian and dependent children) if they are travelling with one of the above persons.

39.  Côte d’Ivoire

Land, aviation and maritime borders closed on 22 March 2020 for an indeterminate period of time. Cargo shipments will not be affected.

40.  Croatia

The EU entry ban for all non-necessary travels of persons from third countries to Europe (all EU Member States, Schengen States and UK) is in place until 15 May 2020.

The travel restrictions do not apply to the following persons:

41.  Cuba

Borders closed to non-Cuban citizens. Foreign travelers are currently permitted to exit, but should be prepared for travel restrictions to be put into effect with little or no advance notice.

42.  Curacao

Effective 16 March, Curacao will restrict entry to Curacao to all travelers except for legal residents of Curacao. Its travel restrictions pertain to visitors from all countries and islands, including regional travel.

43.  Cyprus

As of 12 May 2020, travel ban extended until 28 May 2020. All local and international flights between the island’s airports and third countries, including all other EU members, as well as Lichtenstein, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland are banned. Exempted from the ban are cargo flights, empty inbound flights that intends to fly out people who wishes to leave the island, and emergency and humanitarian flights.

44.  Czech Republic

46.  Denmark

All international flights suspended

48.  Dominican Republic

Complete border closure

Suspended flights to and from Europe, China, South Korea, and Iran for one month starting 17 March 2020. Flights from Milan, Italy have been cancelled and individuals coming from locations with a higher incidence of COVID-19 cases may be subjected to additional screening on self-isolation. Cruise ships with potential COVID-19 patients onboard may be denied docking privileges in the Dominican Republic. Entry of seafarers in all ports of the country will not be allowed starting 17 March 2020.

49.  Ecuador

All foreigners are prohibited from arriving via land, sea or air. Entry to Galapagos Islands is also restricted

50.  Egypt

Complete border closure. All air traffic suspended until 31 March 2020.

51.  El Salvador

Complete border closure.

52.  Equatorial Guinea

Air borders closed.

53.  Eritrea

Commercial flights suspended starting 25 March 2020 for an initial period of two weeks.

54.  Estonia

The EU entry ban for all non-necessary travels of persons from third countries to Europe (all EU Member States, Schengen States and UK) is in place until 15 May 2020.

59.  France

Effective 20 May until 15 June 2020, anyone entering France from outside Europe should observe a voluntary 14-day quarantine. Only essential travel is allowed and everyone crossing the border needs an international travel certificate. A reciprocal 14-day quarantine on travellers from Spain shall be imposed after the latter announced its quarantine measure last 15 May 2020.

60.  French Polynesia

Entry ban on all non-resident travelers

61.  Gabon

Partial Closure of Borders. Foreign nationals cannot enter if transiting to banned countries. Non-Gabonese travelers who have visited China within 14 days of arrival will not be permitted to enter the country until further notice. All travelers entering the country will be subject to heightened screening.

62.  Georgia

Suspended air travel (except Georgian Airways) with other countries on March 20, imposed travel ban on all foreign citizens (except non-Georgian dependents of Georgian citizens and diplomats) entering the country and closed its borders.

63.  Germany

As of 14 April, all arriving travelers in Germany are to be quarantined for 14 days. Travelers on any non-essential travels may be refused entry.

64.  Ghana

All borders, by land, sea and air closed to human traffic for the next two weeks, beginning midnight on 22 March 2020. Travelers will be mandatorily quarantined and tested for the virus. This closure will not apply to goods, supplies and cargo.

65.  Greece

As of 19 May 2020, temporary ban on passenger flights to and from countries of Italy, UK, Spain and the Netherlands is extended until 31 May and on flight to and from Albania and North Macedonia until 14 June.

Governmental, diplomatic, humanitarian and military aid personnel, as well as the non-EU citizens who have permission to travel from a Greek Consulate, will not be affected by the travel restrictions.

International flights are only allowed to land in Athens International Airport until 31 May.

66.  Guatemala

Visitors must submit their passports for a 14-day monitoring period.

68.  Haiti

Closed its borders, ports, and airports. Commercial flights will be suspended unless transportating merchandise, and the captains and the pilots of cargo vessels/planes.

69.  Hong Kong

Suspended all tourist arrivals and transit passengers at its airport for 14 days starting March 25.

70.  Honduras

Closure of borders as of 21 March 2020. All foreigners are not allowed to enter the country. Entry of Hondurans, residents, and diplomats will be subjected to strict health protocols.

71.  Hungary

Effective midnight of 16 March 2020, Hungary closed its borders to passenger traffic. Only Hungarian citizens and EEA citizens holding residence permits will be allowed to enter the country.

As of 20 April 2020, The EU entry ban for all non-necessary travels of persons from third countries to Europe (all EU Member States, Schengen States and UK) is in place until 15 May 2020.The travel restrictions do not apply to the following persons:
1. Citizens of EU Member States and of Schengen associated countries, including their family members, as well as citizens of the United Kingdom, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland, including their family members who are entering for the purpose of transit to their home country or country of residence;
2. Third-country nationals who hold a long-term residence permit for an EU Member State or one of the countries mentioned above (a residence permit or long-term visa, e.g. for pursuing studies or taking up employment), provided that they are returning to their place of habitual residence;
3. Third-country nationals in the so-called “essential functions or needs” category;
these officially include: 1) health care workers, health researchers, and care professionals; and 2) cross-border workers, transport personnel employed for the movement of goods and in other essential sectors; 3) diplomats, staff of international organizations, military personnel and humanitarian aid workers insofar as they are performing official duties; 4) passengers in transit; 5) passengers travelling for imperative family reasons; and 6) persons in need of international protection or seeking entry for other humanitarian reasons.

72.  Iceland

Effective 24 April 2020 until 15 May 2020, all international arrivals to Iceland must be quarantined for 14 days from their day of arrival. During said period, temporary internal Schengen border controls will be also be in place. Passengers arriving in Iceland will be required to fill out a Public Health Passenger Locator form and present it at the border inspection point, providing necessary information regarding where they will stay in quarantine and how it will be organised.

Foreign nationals ,except EU/EEA, EFTA or UK nationals, are not allowed to enter Iceland unless they can demonstrate that their travel is essential. This measure introduced on 20 March 2020 will be extended until 15 May 2020.

73.  India

As of 19 May 2020, India has extended its suspension of domestic and international flights until 31 May 2020. This restriction shall not apply to international all-cargo operations and flights specifically approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

74.  Indonesia

Entry ban on all foreigners and non-residents as of 02 April 2020

75.  Iran

Arriving travelers at airports and land borders are subected to clinical investigations.

Commercial outbound flights are very limited with frequent cancellations which lead to passengers being stranded in Iran.

76.  Iraq

Travelers from the following countries are banned from entering Iraq: Turkey, France, Spain, Nigeria, China, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Italy, Kuwait, Bahrain,UAE

Travelers from Iraq are banned from entering UAE Philippines, Qatar and Turkey. Transit is permitted.

77.  Ireland

As of 27 April 2020, Ireland, together with the rest of the EU, has applied a ban on all non-essential travel to and from the country. All passengers arriving in Ireland, regardless of nationality and including Irish citizens, will be expected to self-isolate on arrival for 14 days. Essential supply chain services such as haulers, pilots and maritime staff are exempt.

78.  Israel

Entry into Israel by foreign nationals will not be permitted even if they have proven the ability to stay in quarantine. The said entry ban includes all foreign caregivers from abroad.

79.  Italy

The EU entry ban for all non-necessary travels of persons from third countries to Europe (all EU Member States, Schengen States and UK) is in place until 15 May 2020.

Foreigners, by virtue of the new Italian law decree, who have expired permesso di soggiorno (permit to stay) are allowed to apply for issuance/renewal of the permit to stay 30 days after its expiration, which gives foreigners a total of 90 days from the expiration of permit of stay to renew his/her permit. The same decree also gives 30-day allowance for foreigners with expired visas who are currently in Italy to apply for visa extension.

On the other hand, the Italian Embassy in Manila issued an advisory that for those who have received their visas valid from 11 March 2020 to 30 June 2020 and have not used it, the traveler is entitled to the issuance of a new visa for which the Embassy’s visa fee will be waved.

80.  Japan

Effective 27 March, Foreign nationals who hold a Chinese passport issued by Hubei/Zhejiang Provinces or who have visited following countries/regions or areas within 14 days of arrival in Japan will not be able to land in Japan except under special circumstances for the time being: China(Hubei, Zhejiang Province) , Republic of Korea(Daegu City, Cheongdo County in North Gyeongsang, Gyeongsan, Andong, Yeongcheon City, Chilgok, Uiseong, Seongju, Gunwei County in North Gyeongsang Province), Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Vatican, and Iran.

Effective 28 March, Visitors/Travelers (Including Japanese) arriving in Japan from following countries/regions will be asked to first stay at designated facilities for 14 days, and to avoid using any public transportation. It will be implemented until the end of April.

83.  Kazakhstan

Effective from 0800H on 16 March 2020, entry and exit through the state border for the citizens of Kazakhstan and foreign states, with the exception of citizens, diplomats, some transportation crews, foreigners (stateless persons), holders of Kazakh residence permits, foreigners who are family members of citizens of Kazakhstan, etc.

Limited flights available in and out of the country, with expected cancellations at any time. Travellers who have been to areas with confirmed cases may be required to undergo testing and follow quarantine procedure.

84.  Kenya

Halted entry of countries with confirmed coronavirus cases. Everyone coming into Kenya will have to undergo quarantine at a government-designated facility at their own cost.

85.  Kiribati

All travelers from countries with ongoing local transmission of novel coronavirus must spend at least 14 days in a country free of COVID-19, and provide a medical clearance to confirm and/or prove this coronavirus free status

86.  Kuwait

Non-Kuwaitis are prohibited from entering Kuwait through Kuwait International Airport. All commercial flights suspended as of 13 March 2020. Temporary suspension of flights between Kuwait and seven countries, including the Philippines, for one week starting 06 March 2020; any foreign nationals from these seven countries shall be barred entry

87.  Kyrgyz Republic

Complete border closure
Effective from 0000H, 19 March 2020, entry of all foreign nationals are banned, with exceptions for diplomats, transporters of goods, etc.

88.  Laos

As of 12 May 2020, all people entering Laos would need to undergo health checks and COVID-19 tests, and 14 day-quarantine. Travelers who wish to be quarantined in hotels instead of government centers will be responsible for expenses, such as hotel fees, meals, and service charges. If the traveler does not exhibit COVID-19 symptoms after the quarantine, he or she will be issued a health certificate that will enable them to go home or work. Meanwhile, those entering Laos with flu or COVID-19 symptoms will be brought to hospitals for isolation and testing for the virus.

Travelers would need to submit applications for entry before proceeding to Laos indicating the dates, transit countries, ports of entry, vehicles they will use, as well as their reasons for going to Laos. These applications will then be forwarded to MOFA’s taskforce committee relevant sectors for its consideration. After the approval of the application, a person who does not have an entry visa needs to apply for it with the nearest Lao embassy or consulate in the country where he/she submitted the application. The traveler must also have a medical certificate stating that he or she does not have COVID-19, and this certificate must be issued within 72 hours of the trip by a reliable health organization.

On the other hand, foreigners who want to exit Laos need to register their purpose of travel with their respective embassies based in Vientiane, which will in turn submit proposal letters to the MOFA indicating the applicant’s name, passport number, time of departure, port of exit, and vehicles to be used by the foreigner.

89.  Latvia

96.  Macau

All air passengers – including Macau residents – must obtain a certificate confirming that they have tested negative for COVID-19 before they are allowed to board their flight to Macau. The test should have been taken within seven days prior to their intended flight to the city.

Since 19 March 2020, Macau-registered non-resident workers from overseas countries, if currently outside the city, were prohibited from re-entering Macau. Macau Health Bureau’s Center for Disease Prevention and Control Head urged residents from refraining from travel to Hong Kong.

97.  Madagascar

Suspended all commercial flights to and from Europe for 30 days. Self-quarantine for 14 days for travellers who have recently been in affected countries.

98.  Malaysia

As of 17 May 2020, Foreigners who are holders of “Malaysia My Second Home” (MM2H) visas, provided they produce COVID-19 negative test results upon arrival in Malaysia, diplomats who are based in Malaysia (with Diplomatic Passes issued by the MFA) and their dependents who hold valid Dependent Passes, as well as foreign nationals who are holders of spouse visa and children of Malaysians and Permanent Residents are allowed to enter and return to Malaysia during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) which commenced on 04 May. All arrivals are required to undergo health screening and quarantine of 14 days at Hotel Sama-Sama with a minimum cost of RM150.00/day for each person and full payment shall be made before quarantine to avoid any inconvenience.

Holders of Expatriate Pass for essential services may submit application to enter Malaysia via the relevant Ministry/Agencies and Director-General of Immigration of Malaysia. Approval will be considered on case-to- case basis. Registered Household Workers (Domestic Helpers) must also get approval from the Director-General of Immigration before entry. If allowed, they are also subjected to 14-day quarantine.

Entry ban on foreign visitors and non-residents until 09 June 2020. Transit allowed without leaving the dedicated airport area (e.g. transit from KLIA1 to KLIA2 is not allowed).

All Malaysians are barred from traveling abroad during the Movement Control Order/CMCO.

99.  Malawi

Increased screenings at its two international airports – Kamuzu International Airports (KIA) in Lilongwe and Chileka International Airports (CIA) in Blantyre;

Travelers who are symptomatic and have a travel history to mainland China, Iran, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Japan, Norway, the United States, Seychelles, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Namibia, Tanzania or any of the countries in the EU in the preceding 14 days are taken to isolation room at the airport for further medical investigation while travelers who are symptomatic will be referred for self-quarantine either at home and daily check-ups for 14 days.

Travelers to Malawi from countries on this list who are made to self-quarantine will not be allowed to self-quarantine in hotels or lodges in Malawi.

100.                 Maldives

No passengers originating from, transiting to or with a travel history of said country/province to be permitted into the Maldives. Maldivians and spouses of Maldivians who are foreign nationals will be allowed in but may be subject to quarantine measures: China, Iran, ROK, Italy, Bangladesh, Germany (Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg), Spain, France (Île-de-France and Grand Est)

101.                 Malta

Travelers from any country must spend 14 days in mandatory quarantine since 13 March 2020. Ports remains closed as of 12 April 2020.

Persons travelling into the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) from areas with confirmed cases are not allowed to enter unless they have self-quarantined in areas with no confirmed cases of COVID-19 for a period of 14 days immediately prior to their entry into the FSM

104.                 Moldova

Restricted travel of foreigners who are not permanent residents of Moldova, arriving by plane who transited in a country designated by the World Health Organization as having a Level 4 outbreak of COVID-19.

105.                 Mongolia

As of 20 May 2020, all flights in and out of Mongolia are suspended until 31 May 2020. All foreign nationals will be denied entry to the country until said suspension. Land border with China remains closed.

106.                 Morocco

Suspension of all international flights as of 16 March

107.                 Mozambique

Self-quarantine for 14 days for travellers who have recently been in affected countries

108.                 Myanmar

Suspension of all commercial flights has been extended until 15 May 2020, except for relief flights, cargo flights, medical evacuation flights, and special flights approved by the Department of Civil Aviation. All incoming travelers, including Myanmar nationals, will be subject to 21-day facility quarantine and 7-day home quarantine on their arrival in Myanmar.

113.                 New Zealand

All borders closed except those from the Pacific traveling to NZ for humanitarian reasons and for key workers in the health sector. Any returning New Zealanders, partners, legal guardians or any dependent children, will still be required to self-isolate for 14 days upon entry. Immediate family members cannot travel by themselves and need to travel with New Zealand citizen or resident family member on the same flight home. All cruise ships are banned from entering New Zealand until 30 June 2020.

114.                 Niger

Closed land and air borders except for transport of goods. Set up six coronavirus emergency centers across the country. Strictly screens all new arrivals. Those with a temperature above 38 degrees Celsius are quarantined.

115.                 Nigeria

All international and regional commercial flights are suspended. Special permits though will be issued on a needs basis.

118.                 North Macedonia

As of 19 May 2020, only citizens and legal residents of North Macedonia are allowed entry into North Macedonia but subject to quarantine.

Skopje International Airport closed its operations since 18 March 2020. All airports are closed for commercial flights. The Government of North Macedonia stated it will deny re-entry to any traveler who departs North Macedonia and tries to re-enter within 3 months. Land borders with all neighboring countries including Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Kosovo and Serbia are closed.

119.                 Norway

As of 24 April 2020, all foreign nationals without a residence permit in Norway are prohibited from entering Norwegian territory. Norwegian nationals, foreign nationals who have a residence permit and no special entry restriction, and other designated groups shall be allowed entry to Norway.

The Regulations establish exemptions for:

1. EEA nationals who reside in Norway;
2. Family members of EEA nationals when such a family member resides in Norway;
3. EEA nationals who are employed and who have entered into or are to enter into a work relationship in Norway;
4. EEA nationals who are self-employed who have established or are to establish business activity in Norway;
5. Service providers from an EEA country (independent contractors and posted workers) who have begun or are to begin a work assignment in Norway;
6. Foreign nationals who will only be staying for airport transit before departing Norway;
7. Foreign nationals who are covered by an exemption from the duty of quarantine including foreign nationals who are essential to maintain the proper operation of critical public functions or attend to fundamental needs of the population, including persons who perform goods and passenger transport functions;
8. Foreign nationals seeking protection in the realm (i.e. asylum); and
9. When special reasons so indicate, such as specific care responsibilities for persons in Norway or other compelling welfare considerations.

The following foreign nationals are also exempted from the entry prohibition:

1. Foreign nationals who have a need to travel through the Norwegian mainland on their way to or from work or residence in Svalbard;
2. EEA nationals and their family members who need to travel through Norway to get home

120.                 Oman

Muscat International Airport continues to remain closed to all international and domestic passenger traffic until 29 May 2020.

121.                 Pakistan

As of 20 May 2020, the suspension of operation of all international passengers, chartered and private flights has been extended until 15 May 2020.

Suspension of domestic flight operations is until 13 May 2020 (2359 hours PST). Remaining provisions as applicable to the suspension of domestic flights reflected, i.e., the previous orders, remain unchanged.

Border with Iran temporarily closed; border with Afghanistan at Chaman closed. Diplomats and special/cargo aircrafts are exempted from the above-mentioned conditions. However, they will be subjected to appropriate health screenings on arrival. They can also be isolated/quarantined as per advice of health professionals.

122.                 Palau

All flights and passenger vessels from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau to Palau are temporarily suspended. Foreign travellers from these areas are temporarily banned from entry into Palau until 31 March 2020

123.                 Palestine

The Palestinian Authority has decided to temporarily ban the entry of all tourists into the West Bank, including Bethlehem and Jericho. In addition, the Israeli government also decided to restrict all travels to Bethlehem from Israel.

124.                 Panama

Complete border closure. Entry of foreigners and non-residents is prohibited.

125.                 Papua New Guinea

Travelers from all international ports will be subject to passing quarantine. A 14-day quarantine is to be carried out at transition ports including Manila. Border travel is banned.

126.                 Paraguay

All access points to Paraguay are closed for 15 days, except for Paraguayan nationals, foreign residents, and members of diplomatic missions and international organizations with authorized entry and that those who enter from abroad and do not present symptoms.

127.                 Peru

All borders shut starting 17 March 2020.

128.                 Poland

As of 20 April, the EU entry ban for all non-necessary travels of persons from third countries to Europe (all EU Member States, Schengen States and UK) is extended until 15 May 2020.

Beginning 07 April 2020, all Chinese citizens who arrive in the border region aboard Russian domestic flights are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine and only those holding special passes will be permitted to travel on the Russian side of the border area. In addition, all guesthouses and nursing homes on the Russian side of the border area will also be closed to outsiders until 01 June.

Meanwhile, scheduled and charter international flights to and from Moscow have been suspended since 09 March 2020, except for the repatriation of Russian citizens and as ordered by the government.

133.                 Rwanda

All commercial passenger flights, including RwandAir, will be suspended effective midnight of 20 March 2020. Only cargo and emergency flights will operate. All borders closed.

134.                 Samoa

136.                 Saudi Arabia

All international travel suspended for 2 weeks starting 15 March 2020. Travel ban imposed on countries including the Philippines (except Filipino health practitioners, newly-hired, and returning to employers; these will be subjected to a special medical evaluation). Suspension of Umrah visa and tourist visas to countries including the Philippines.
Home quarantine for 14 days required for expats who arrived in KSA before returning to work as of 16 March. All domestic flights, buses, taxis and trains have been suspended for 14 days effective 21 March.

Umrah pilgrims who exceeded visa period can apply for an exemption by submitting an exception request to avoid penalties through the Ministry of Hajj’s website no later than 28 March. Relevant authorities will arrange return flights for the pilgrims.

137.                 Senegal

Suspended all international air travel (with limited exceptions) on March 20 until April 17.
The National Committee for the Management of Epidemics (CNGE) has reinforced public health control measures at the Blaise Diagne International Airport, the Ziguinchor airport, the seaport of Dakar, and the land border post at Kalifourou near Guinea.

Passengers may be asked to provide contact information to airport officials, including a local phone number, on arrival.

Passengers who arrive in Senegal with symptoms consistent with COVID-19, including fevers and coughs, may be quarantined at the airport for an indefinite period until COVID-19 can be ruled out.

Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 may be isolated at a local hospital.

138.                 Serbia

Global Level 4 – Do not travel, All border crossings (air, land, or river) are going to be closed for travelers. State of Emergency declared in Serbia. Widespread travel restrictions in effect.

139.                 Seychelles

All foreign workers hold a Gainful Occupation Permit (GOP) are not allowed to return to Seychelles until further notice. No new GOPs are to be issued effective immediately.

Any passenger who has been to any country in Europe, the United States of America and Australia in the last 14 days (except returning Seychellois citizens) will not be allowed to enter Seychelles.

140.                 Sierra Leone

All arriving with fever above 37.5 °c or persistent cough or difficult breathing will be immediately taken into isolation facility for investigation and management.
Those from countries with 50 or more confirmed cases will undergo a 14-day quarantine period via Isolation in the facility identified by their embassies/missions/organizations and verified by the Ministry of Health and Sanitation or via Mandatory Quarantine Facility managed by the Ministry of Health and Sanitation. Those from countries with less than 50 confirmed cases of COVID-19 will be documented and followed-up by designated surveillance officers/contact tracers at home for a period of 14 days.

141.                 Singapore

Effective 23 March 2020 2359H (SG time), all short-term visitors will not be allowed to enter or transit. Accredited diplomatic staff will still be allowed entry.

Effective 23 March 2020, the Ministry of Manpower will allow entry into SG only of Singapore Work Pass holders, including their dependents, for those providing essential services, incuding healthcare and transport.

Effective 27 March 2020 0900H, all travelers arriving in SG must submit a health declaration. All citizens, permanent residents and long-term pass holders must undergo a 14-day Stay-Home Notice.

142.                 Sint Eustatius

Flights from the US, Europe and other locations with risk of CoVid-19 have been suspended.

143.                 Sint Maarten

Effective 17 March, Sint Maarten will restrict entry to Sint Maarten to all travelers except for legal residents of Duth Sint Maarten. Travel restrictions pertain to visitors from all countries and islands, including regional travel.

Entry permitted if traveler presents a certification in Slovene, English, or German attesting to a negative test result for SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19). The test results must be no older than three (3) days. If a passenger fails to provide such a certificate, they are permitted to enter Slovenia under the condition that their body temperature does not exceed 37.5 degrees Celsius and that they do not show any common upper respiratory tract infection symptoms (cough, sneezing, breathing difficulties).

146.                 Solomon Islands

Transit through Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Macau, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, South Korea, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Qatar, Iran, or Taiwan in the 14 days prior to arrival will not be allowed to enter. Travelers entering or transiting from several countries including the Philippines are subject to risk-based assessment by immigration and health officials.

147.                 Somalia

All international flights are suspended for a period of 15 days effective 18 March 2020. Arriving and leaving the country are suspended effective 18 March 2020.

148.                 South Africa

All entry of foreign travelers with ordinary passports, travelling from or transiting through the high-risk countries (Philippines not included) is prohibited until further notice. No applications for visas by foreign travelers from the high-risk countries will be approved. Visas already issued are revoked with immediate effect for travelers that have not yet entered South Africa.

149.                 South Korea

Mandatory 14-day quarantine for all inbound passengers. Short-term travelers will be quarantined at a government-designated facility at their own expense (approx. $100/night). Long-term/residential travellers will self-quarantine at home. Those traveling to South Korea for diplomatic, business, humanitarian, or, academic reasons may be exempt from self-quarantine requirements but will require pre-approved waiver from a Korean Embassy or Consulate prior to traveling.

150.                 South Sudan

All international flights are suspended as well as the borders crossing passengers’ buses with exception to the following operations: food cargo flights, aircrafts in the state of emergency, flights passing through South Sudan’s air space, humanitarian aid operations (including medical and relief flights), and technical landing provided that passengers don’t embark.

151.                 Spain

As of 12 May 2020, border entry limitations in Spain has been extended unitl 24 May 2020. All travellers coming from overseas will be asked to undergo home quarantine for 14 days effective on 15 May 2020 per Official State Bulletin dated 12 May 2020.

152.                 Sri Lanka

VOA for all eligible nationalities are suspended. Passengers who have been in Iran, Italy, ROK, and several European countries in the past 14 days will not be allowed to enter Sri Lanka. The LK Government also ceased operation of all international airports in Sri Lanka for inbound flights from 0400H of 19 March 2020 until 2359H, 25 March 2020.

153.                 Sudan

All commercial flights cancelled and all land borders closed until 30 July 2020.

156.                 Switzerland

Since mid-March, entry into the Confederation is only permitted for Swiss citizens, people holding a residence permit and people who have to travel to Switzerland for professional reasons or who are in an “absolutely necessary” situation will be allowed to enter the Confederation by air or land.

On 27 April 2020 (Monday), the Canton of Geneva will partially reopen five border crossing points with France.

Those who cross the border exclusively for the purpose of shopping will be fined CHF100 ($103) upon reentering Swiss territory according to the Federal Customs Administration (FCA). The FCA clarified that shopping in itself was not being sanctioned, but rather the burden on resources that shopping trips create for customs agents.

157.                 Taiwan

Starting 19 March 2020, all foreigners are prohibited from entering Taiwan. Exceptions are holders of residence permits, diplomats, and anyone arriving to carry out commercial contracts.
Locals and foreign nationals with necessary documentation who arrive in Taiwan from overseas will now be required to be quarantined at home for 14 days.

158.                 Tajikistan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan recommends that citizens of the country temporarily refrain from traveling to South Korea, Itan, Italy, Afghanistan, Japan, China

159.                 Tanzania

All travelers, both foreigner and returning residents, arriving from countries most affected by COVID-19, will be subjected to mandatory isolation for 14 days at their own cost at designated facilities identified by the government starting March 23.

Passengers should fill in Health Surveillance Form in the plane, or any other transport means and submit them to Port Health authorities upon arrival.

After 14-days quarantine, passengers who have not developed symptoms of COVID-19 may leave the facilities and will be required to register personal information for future possible tracking purposes.

The Bahamian government has closed all airports to incoming international flights carrying visitors and all seaports to international and regional seafaring and private boating.

162.                 Timor Leste

As of 18 March 2020, TL Govt approved a resolution effective immediately interdicting the entry of all foreign nationals from 147 countries listed in WHO Situation Report 57 (17 Mar 2020) as having COVID-19. Foreign Nationals with special missions are exempted subject to prior notice and approval 1 week before arrival in TL. The resolution will be subject to 2 weeks periodic review.

163.                 Tonga

Travelers from countries with community transmission of Covid-19 are required to spend 14-days self-isolated in a country with fewer than 60 cases, except for Tongan citizens, permanent residents or their immediate family members.

164.                 Trinidad and Tobago

Closed its border to foreigners for 14 days starting March 17.

165.                 Tunisia

Closed land and air borders except for transport of goods. Suspended International flights. Imposed mandatory 14-day quarantine for all travelers without exception, regardless of origin.

166.                 Turkey

As of 17 May 2020, Turkish Airlines (THY) has suspended all international flights, both inbound and outbound, until June 01, 2020. While all domestic flights are suspended until May 28, 2020.

Travel restrictions were lifted from nine more provinces, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced Monday, as part of Turkey’s normalization process now that the coronavirus crisis has been brought under control. According to the president, entry and exit from Adana, Diyarbakir, Mardin, Trabzon, Ordu, Denizli, Kahramanmaras, Sanliurfa and Tekirdag were allowed once again. The country’s most populous cities, Istanbul and Izmir, as well as capital Ankara, remain under restrictions.

Category 1: Travelers from the following 16 countries, (Italy, San Marino, Iran, South Korea, France, China, Germany, Spain, Belgium, USA, UK, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Austria & Malaysia) including Ugandan nationals will be subjected to self-quarantine for 14 days on arrival even if they are symptomatic of COVID-19;

Category 2: Travelers from the following countries (Finland, Philippines, Indonesia & Pakistan) will be observed by the Ministry of Health very closely; and

Category 3: Travelers from the countries not mentioned in Category 1 & 2 will undergo the routine screening upon arrival and be advised accordingly on the measures to undertake while in the country to prevent infection and where to report if not feeling well.

On 24 March 2020, UAE’s civil aviation authority announced the suspension of all inbound and outbound passenger flights for two weeks. Restricted entry of all valid visa holders, including residency visa holders, who are currently out of the country, for a renewable period of two weeks effective March 19.

173.                 United Kingdom

As of 08 April 2020, the UK has extended for an indefinite period the ban on all non-essential travel to and from the country.

Meanwhile, additional flights with 10 more airlines including British Airways, Norwegian Air, TUI and Ryanair and others to fly back to the UK British travelers stranded abroad are being facilitated.

181.                 Yemen

All flights to and from airports, including Aden International, Seiyun Hadhramaut and Riyan International serving Mukalla, are suspended for two weeks from 18 March 2020. Humanitarian flights are exempted from the restrictions.

182.                 Zimbabwe

Closed all borders except for returning residents on March 24.
